Delete your account and data
Last modified: 2026-07-12
Current status
BookGeist offers an optional account for connected features. Core library and reading features remain local and can be used without an account.
How to delete the account
- Open BookGeist.
- Go to Settings → Account.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm the operation. If you used Sign in with Apple, BookGeist will also request that authorization be revoked where possible.
Account access is blocked once the request is accepted, and deletion normally completes immediately. If a service is unavailable, deletion continues automatically and the app displays a reference for follow-up.
If you no longer have the app installed, email contact@bookgeist.app from the address associated with the account, using the subject “Delete account”. We will verify your identity before processing the request.
If Apple does not provide a revocable credential—for example, on Android or a device where Sign in with Apple is unavailable—BookGeist does not block deletion of the account or its data. The app will instruct you to remove access manually in Apple device Settings → Apple Account → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple → BookGeist → Stop Using, or from Android/a computer at account.apple.com → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple.
What is deleted
Except where legal retention obligations apply, the process deletes:
- The BookGeist account, associated email, and access sessions.
- Personal data, jobs, uploads, and results linked to the account in BookGeist AI services.
- Cloud backups and objects linked to the account in BookGeist cloud storage.
- The associated RevenueCat customer profile.
- Sign in with Apple authorization when Apple provides a revocable credential; otherwise, you must remove it manually using the steps above.
Data stored locally on the device is not removed by the server-side process. To delete it as well, uninstall the app or clear its data from system settings.
What may be retained and for how long
- Apple, Google, RevenueCat, or other payment providers may retain transaction records where required for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, or legal reasons.
- BookGeist may retain minimum accounting or security records where a legal obligation or applicable legitimate interest exists, removing email, content, and other direct identifiers wherever possible.
- For approximately 30 days, BookGeist may retain the minimum pseudonymous security records needed to prevent immediate account recreation and complete or verify deletion. They contain no email or name and are not used for profiling or marketing.
- If a provider outage delays verification, the minimum deletion status may be retained until the process is completed. It contains no content, email, or name and is used for no other purpose.
- BookGeist may also retain a pseudonymous request reference and its status for up to 24 months for support, audit, and verification, then deletes them automatically.
Subscriptions and purchases
Deleting the account or RevenueCat profile does not automatically cancel a subscription billed by App Store or Google Play. Subscriptions must be cancelled through the relevant store. Refunds and purchase-record retention are governed by Apple or Google policies.
Timeframe
BookGeist attempts to complete deletion immediately. Pending operations are retried automatically. In all cases, requests are handled within the legally applicable deadlines after receipt and verification.
